Italian design superstar Gianni Versace founded the Versace fashion empire in 1978, and featured clothing designs infused with provocative European glamour. During Gianni Versace's reign as a design mogul, fashion truly became an accepted art form. His work became so internationally famous that he was officially named "the most innovative and creative designer in the world" by the jury of the Cutty Sark Award in 1988.

Despite Gianni's tragic death in 1997, the Versace name still lives on thanks to his equally talented sister, Donatella Versace. To this day, the Versace brand continues to be recognized across the world as the cream of the fashion crop.
